Karamoja Sub Region Local Government Leaders Endorse Karamoja Peace And Technology University

Karamoja sub region Local Government leaders through their association, the Karamoja District Chairpersons and Mayors Association have fully endorsed and pledged support towards the establishment of the upcoming Karamoja Peace And Technology University (KAPATU).
The leaders expressed their intentions during a strategic meeting with the President of the Catholic Lawyers Society International (CLASI), Mr. Twinobusingye Severino and Corporation Secretary, Mr. Henry Kyarimpa in Kampala on July 19, 2023.
The five-man delegation consisted of Mr. Joseph Nangole Lobot, LC5 Chairperson Amudat district; Mr. Meri Jino Bornd, LC5 Chairperson Kaabong district; Mr Lotee Paul Komol, LC5 Chairperson Kotido district, Mr. Ismail Mohammed, Mayor Moroto Municipality; and Mr. Irar Peter Abraham, Mayor Kotido Municipality.

The meeting was part of the pre-launch activities ahead of the official launch of the university by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda on July 28, 2023 at Losilang Catholic Parish, Kotido Catholic Diocese, Kotido District, Uganda – East Africa.
During the meeting, the members resolved;
- That Karamoja Peace And Technology University is a Project of the Ateker People who predominantly reside in the sub regions of Karamoja and Teso.
- To mobilize the entire Karamoja sub region towards the success of the university launch event.
- That H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is an elder among the Karamojong people, having been acculturated into the Karamojong at Losilang, the same venue where the university will be headquartered.
- That KAPATU is a game changer in the Karamoja sub region.
- That all people including and not limited to religious leaders, politicians, cultural leaders et al will participate in the KAPATU launch event.
- That KAPATU is the most important initiative introduced to Karamoja sub region in over 146 years.
