Hon. Ochero Donates Land Worth UGX 500m to Karamoja Peace And Technology University

Kampala, Uganda – East Africa.

The Hon. Member of Parliament for Labwor County in the 11th Parliament of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Ochero Jimbricky Norman (MP) has donated 20 acres of prime land valued at UGX 500m towards the upcoming Karamoja Peace And Technology University (KAPATU).

Hon. Ochero who is a distinguished and prominent lawyer based in Uganda made the donation on July 12, 2023 through the Catholic Lawyers Society International (CLASI), to which he is a member.

The land which is located in Abim District, Uganda – East Africa, will be used by CLASI to establish the university’s Faculty of Agriculture as well as a large-scale afforestation program.

This afforestation is informed by the Papal Encyclical Laudato Si’ and will be implemented in strict compliance with the above, so as to care for the earth as our common home and therefore mitigate the effects of climate change.

Compared to the rest of the Karamoja sub-region which is mostly semi-arid, Abim has been identified by CLASI as a major centre for large scale scientific Agriculture and research, making it a crucial stepping stone towards rejuvenating the food-insecure region.

“Abim will also be a centre for large scale botanical forests and gardens. These will be directly under the university’s school of pharmacy for production of tropical medicine and research.”

Says CLASI President, Mr. Twinobusingye Severino who received the land donation on behalf of the society.

Exhibiting the purest example of CLASI’s motto; “Justicia Omnibus – Justice for all”, the Hon. Ochero’s donation towards the furthering of CLASI’s objectives and projects is nothing short of distinguishable and only appropriately rewardable by the Almighty.

The establishment of Karamoja Peace And Technology University was launched by CLASI on April 29, 2023 as part of the organization’s project activities to be implemented across Uganda in the next three years.
