Brief Overview And Experience

Geoffrey’s practice involves corporate and commercial advisory services and transactional work with a special focus on mining, energy and natural resources law. He started his legal practice in 2008 with Ambrose Tebyasa & Co. Advocates, one of the leading law firms in Uganda, where he rose through the ranks to become a Senior Associate.

Geoffrey has handled high profile land cases, commercial transactions and Election petitions in the Courts of Judicature in Uganda. Geoffrey I also a chairperson of the Legal Committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Association, an organization where he has served for over 7 years.

Geoffrey has had over 10 (ten) years’ experience in the natural resources sector and has influenced both law and policy representing both investors and communities and state agencies in the acquisition of surface rights as well as mineral rights over vast tracts of land. As part of his advocacy in the natural resources sector, he has litigated on behalf of artisanal miners to ensure that they enjoy safer working conditions, that their rights are protected as well as capacity building of indigenous communities in mineral rich areas.

In this community engagement, he has advised investors on various modes of acquisition of surface rights and mineral rights with a human rights based approach that does not antagonize the local communities and therefore making the communities receptive of the investments over their land to ensure a win-win for all parties involved.
